Mustafa
got into Georgetown first. There was a hand-written note about
the good personal statement. Oh, the ego, the vanity, the joy, that
we shared that night! His phone call from Michigan likewise stressed
the great essays. His acceptance letters from NYU, Chicago and Berkeley
were less effusive, but the letters were praise enough.
Mustafa is my biggest success story of the year, not because of the great acceptances, but because his prelaw advisor had told him he should apply to Alabama. Every time we talk, he thanks me for saving him from such a cruel fate.
2005 Update: Connie Davis Powell, Class of 1997, told me that Mustafa spent one of his summers interning at Winston & Strawn in Chicago.
